Pornography is a major problem in America today. Not many of us are aware that it is a $13 billion industry, and most of us do not realize how destructive pornography is. As a public high school teacher, I have seen the enormous volume of porn that is in the hands of kids, and I have seen its effect on my students. Even more disturbing is the fact that I have heard pornography defended and even praised as long as it is kept in the confines of a married couple's bedroom.
Pornography is a major cause of rape, the abuse of wives, dissatisfaction in marriage, divorce, child abuse, infidelity, and poor self esteem in men. If you doubt this last sentence, you need to get a copy of this book and read it.
The author has written this book from personal experience. Her husband was into pornography in a major way, and she has suffered enormously because of it. After 15 years of marriage and two children, Laurie Hall discovered her husband's problem and began to try to protect her family and rebuild her marriage. The book weaves her experiences in and out of scientific data and facts, and very clear and straight forward discussions of what pornography and meaningful sexual relationships are all about. This is not a book for children because it is totally open and honest on sexual issues. Masturbation, sex orgasmic experiences, and sexual malfunctions are discussed and explained factually.
The book is divided into four sections. The titles of the sections explain them well:
Mrs. Hall writes extremely well. The book contains a great deal of biblical teaching and uses the Bible as a resource on many subjects. We recommend this book highly--especially for anyone who has a loved one who is toying with pornography. We are just beginning to see the effect of pornographic videos whose numbers have exploded in recent years and are being sold by numerous video outlets--sometimes in false jackets. This book needs to be in the hands of parents and church leaders as this plague spreads.
